The annual African Festa in Yokohama (this weekend May 11-12 2013 11 am till 5 pm) attracts big crowds who get hypnotized by polyrhythms and end up dancing in front of the Red Brick Warehouse in the cool bayside breezes. It’s one of the best free events in Japan, and a great place to buy African food, clothing and handicrafts, or hang out with some of the coolest people in the area. This year features Burkina Faso musician Bill Aka Kora, percussionst Latyr Sy and plenty of beautiful dancers in colorful costumes.
